Child Protection and Neoliberalism Two approaches exist around the provision of welfare and child protection, traditionally the family alone was responsible for child welfare, the other approach incorporates the state as having a role in child protection.. The second school of thought is reflected in the sociologically based post-modernist school which champions the post-World War II welfare state.
